Lawmakers are considering two House bills that would greatly expand the rights of public-sector employees in Pennsylvania.
HB 506 would allow public employees to stop paying dues or fees to a union at any time, rather than waiting for a small “opt-out” window. This bill would also end of the practice of union mandates that force individuals to pay dues as a condition of employment in collective bargaining agreements.
HB 785 would alert workers to those rights clarified in the recent Janus v. AFSCME U.S. Supreme Court decision. Workers have the right to choose where their money goes and who speaks for them.
Thank the lawmakers cosponsoring these bills that would protect worker freedom. Encourage them to work with their colleagues to pursue these vital reforms and bring these bills to a vote.
