The state of Arkansas ranks 50th in health care outcomes, 43rd in primary care, 46th in diabetes, 48th in infant mortality. To make matters worse, many counties in the state don’t have enough primary care professionals to effectively and efficiently offer medical services.
Arkansas needs more primary care professionals to improve health care access and could take the first step by allowing advance practice registered nurses (APRN) to offer their services and expertise.
Not only would this benefit all Arkansans, but it would also incentivize APRNs to provide primary health care in rural areas and marginalized communities throughout the state.
Sign the letter to your legislators and encourage them to support designating APRNs as primary health care providers for Medicaid in Arkansas!
