Many Arizonans lack access to quality high-speed internet, which impacts their daily lives. Especially in the time of COVID-19 and the increasing use of technology, providing opportunities for rural Arizonans to have access to high-speed internet is imperative.
H.B. 2711 removes some of these barriers by protecting Arizonans’ constitutionally protected property rights and allows private property owners to install Over-the-Air-Reception Devices (OTARD). These devices are no more than one meter in diameter and will improve the access to high-speed internet, especially in rural areas.
Through the passage of H.B. 2711, Arizona would also become a leader in wireless deployment and property rights by codifying a similar rule put forward by the Federal Communications Commission on January 7th, 2021.
All Arizonans deserve access to the internet. Urge your lawmakers to break barriers by supporting rural broadband through H.B. 2711!
