Urge your lawmakers to stop backdoor tax increases
Lawmakers in Denver raised the cost of gasoline purchases through fees, which will increase costs on all Colorado families and businesses. Even though voters recently passed Prop 117, which says any fee increase needs to be approved by the voters of Colorado, politicians are still looking for ways to go around Coloradans and raise taxes.
The legislature claimed to have found a loophole to avoid taking it to a vote of the people. To make matters worse, our state legislature has a bad history of diverting funds to other projects not related to roads. There is no guarantee the money will actually go to where they say it will.
Diversions to other spending programs should be ended before imposing or even considering new or higher taxes.
We need to hold them accountable! That’s why we need you to make your voice heard today.
Send a letter to remind your lawmakers telling them the people of Colorado have the right to vote on tax and fee increases.
