During his budget address in February, Gov. Tim Walz proposed a 20-cent/gallon gas tax increase to fund infrastructure projects in Minnesota. That’s a 70 percent tax increase that would stick Minnesota with the fourth highest gas tax in the nation.
The state budget is projected to run another surplus this year (thanks to a booming national economy), so there is no need to raise taxes even higher.
Not many of us would argue with the fact that we need to fix infrastructure in our state. But we should do it by prioritizing transportation and roads within existing revenues – not by additional costs for families and businesses.
Tell your lawmakers to stop Gov. Walz’s gas tax increase and protect Minnesotans from even higher taxes!
