At a time when the Florida economy has taken a step back due to the pandemic, home-based businesses are a way to encourage entrepreneurs to start more businesses in our state, providing an economic boost and creating jobs.
Recently introduced legislation, House Bill 403 and Senate Bill 266 would allow for the operation of a home-based business under certain conditions, including a requirement that the business is secondary in nature to the buildings primary function as a residence, that a maximum of two non-residents may work at the business, and that other local ordinances and zoning requirements are followed (such as parking).
This legislation lowers the cost of creating a small business, as it drops the requirement of needing potentially expensive and unnecessary office space, hampering potential job growth.
It also provides a safe option during the pandemic to keep businesses alive without requiring people to meet up in outside groups and potentially spread the disease.
Encourage your lawmakers to allow more innovation from Florida’s entrepreneurs and support HB 403/SB 266!
