In September, a group of Arkansas lawmakers will gather to review Arkansas’ occupational licensing system. Occupational licenses are essentially government permission slips dictating who can work in certain fields and who can’t. We are one of the worst states when it comes to licensing lower-income occupations, ranking as the sixth most burdensome due to the high average of qualifications regarding education and experience. These are often layers of bureaucracy that do not match the level of experience and competency required to perform a job safely.
Arkansans deserve the freedom to earn a living without unnecessary government burdens. Most government occupational licensing requirements prevent people from succeeding while protecting entrenched interests.
Email your legislator today and tell them you support their review of unnecessary government licenses!
