SB3 is a sentencing reform bill currently under consideration by the Ohio General Assembly. It would reclassify low-level, non-violent drug possession as a misdemeanor, a reform that would help encourage those convicted to get treatment, without burdening them with a felony conviction that could remove housing, education and employment opportunities.
The bill would also give judges more discretion when sentencing low-level offenders, rather than saddling them with inflexible mandatory minimum sentences. Strict mandatory minimums do not combat crime or decrease the supply of illicit drugs.
Tell lawmakers to support SB3, which has great promise to give Ohioans who deserve it a second chance.
