Currently, nine unelected individuals pick our State Supreme Court justices. 66% of Kansans agree this must change.
The Court wields significant power over issues that impact the lives of all Kansans. Allowing this small group to play such an important role in the selection of our third brand of government removes accountability and gives power to a select group of lawyers and other special interests.
The legislature is considering a proposal that would dissolve the unelected commission and allow Kansas voters to directly elect our State Supreme Court justices. That means transparency, accountability and a court that reflects our state’s values.
Encourage our lawmakers to reform our state’s judicial selection process.
