Gov. Hickenlooper’s low-emission vehicle mandates are bad for Colorado. In the states in which they have been instituted, LEV mandates raise the costs of motor vehicles, pricing many consumers out of the market in regressive fashion.
Additionally, LEV mandates tend not to accomplish the goals they set out to achieve, with some research calling them a “costly mistake.” Around 75 percent of Colorado’s registered vehicles are classified as trucks, a number that will cause a lot of Coloradans a lot of pain to mandate away.
Coloradans cannot afford these mandates.
