Virginia lawmakers passed, and Gov. Ralph Northam signed, HB 165 and SB122, a bill that would expand access to teledentistry across the commonwealth. As a result, many Virginians can look forward to better health care outcomes.
This bill will:
- Allow patients on Medicaid to access teledentistry.
- Reduce the cost of orthodontic care. For example, in-office orthodontic treatment can cost $5,000-$8,000. That same care can be provided through teledentistry for $1,895.
- Allow more rural residents and those who have trouble traveling for care to access the dental care they need.
Thank lawmakers for passing and Gov. Northam for signing this bill and encourage them to expand more health care options across Virginia in the future.
