Colorado’s Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR) enables our state economy to thrive, keeps government spending in check and creates an environment where business can flourish. Thanks to TABOR, Colorado residents get an increased refund on their income taxes if the legislature collects too much revenue—which is projected to happen the next three years.
But politicians in Denver don’t want you to keep more of your hard-earned income.
In recent days, there have been conversations about having a special session to do some “accounting magic” and increase the TABOR threshold - that would keep you from seeing a larger refund. Plus, each day lawmakers are trying to hurt TABOR in this special session, it costs us -the taxpayers -over $25,000.
They’ve gone too far.
The only way legislators can convene a special session is if Gov. Jared Polis calls for one. We need to make our voices heard and tell Gov. Polis this special session just isn’t necessary.
Coloradans deserve more of the money they work hard for, not less of it. Email Gov. Polis now and urge him against convening a special session!
