Urge your lawmakers to vote NO on S.B. 262, Gas Tax Increase!
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the last thing Missouri needs is more tax hikes.
Recently introduced legislation, S.B. 262, would increase Missouri’s gas tax by 12.5 cents per gallon over five years.
Raising the gas tax is not only an ineffective way of addressing our state’s transportation needs, but this bill is also drafted to intentionally sidestep the state constitution’s Hancock Amendment, which requires voter approval for tax increases.
Missouri’s lawmakers should respect our state constitution and reform how we spend tax money on our infrastructure projects instead of levying tax increases that will disproportionally hurt lower-income residents.
Urge your lawmakers to stand up to a gas tax hike and vote NO on S.B. 262, Gas Tax Increase!
