Urge your lawmakers to support HB 92
Montanans who have been falsely convicted of a crime deserve to be fairly compensated for their loss of liberty.
Recently introduced legislation, HB 92, would compensate Montanans who have been falsely convicted for their loss of liberty after being exonerated.
If enacted, individuals who have been falsely convicted could file a claim and be fairly compensated for their loss of liberty without having to go through the lengthy and costly process of filing a lawsuit. This cuts down on out-of-pocket expenses for lawyers and an incredibly costly process for the state—saving Montana’s taxpayers money.
We can’t give back what the government took from these people, the years of their freedom, but we can make sure there is a quicker and more cost-effective way to try and make them whole.
Urge your lawmakers to compensate falsely convicted Montanans and support HB 92!
