Montanans ought to have the right to purchase locally harvested and processed foods directly from producers.
Senate Bill 199, the “Food Freedom Act” would allow just that. SB 199 would protect our access to local fresh foods, and also protect the rights of farmers, ranchers, and home-based producers to sell their fresh, local foods to us at farmers markets and other traditional community events.
It’s important for cottage food producers, for example, to be able to test market their products at places like farmers’ markets and community events.
Many of Montana’s small businesses have started just that way – and we want to ensure they remain protected from unnecessary red tape.
Urge Gov. Gianforte to break barriers for Montana entrepreneurs and consumers by signing SB 199 into law!
