Stop this regulation from restricting access to quality health care
Missourians are facing a crisis in health care.
Hospitals are closing. Wait times for appointments are getting longer. Prices are skyrocketing. Patients lack choices.
Our state’s Certificate of Need (CON) law artificially restricts the supply of health care in Missouri, creating monopolies that – with little competition – are free to inflate the price of health care.
CON requires hospitals and other medical providers to seek permission from a committee to build new facilities, add hospital beds, and even purchase some equipment. The committee is made up of state legislators, political appointees, and even would-be competitors.
It’s a bureaucratic barrier that makes it nearly impossible to increase the supply of affordable health care in our state.
Tell your state lawmakers to support HB 1616 or SB 890 and increase marketplace competition to improve access to high-quality, affordable health care.
