Cannabis is already decriminalized in New Hampshire. Why do we need to take the extra step to legalize it?
Even a decriminalized substance can still be probable cause for a traffic stop or police search that might result in someone being imprisoned who otherwise might not be.
Cannabis users are safer when they can consume without fear of legal reprisal and can buy from legal producers with a greater incentive for quality control without having to cross state lines.
If we agree that consuming cannabis shouldn’t be a crime, we should also be able to agree that growing or selling it shouldn’t be a crime either. We should remove the barriers to entrepreneurship that decriminalization alone still presents.
