State Rep. Jon Hardister has announced he will vote “no” on a bill that would expand Medicaid in North Carolina.
He’s joined many in the state who know that Medicaid expansion hurts the very people the program is meant to help.
Expanding coverage to able-bodied, working-age adults would crowd out access to care for the most vulnerable among us.
And, like their counterparts in other states who have tried Medicaid expansion, lawmakers would likely end up raising taxes to fund the program, putting workers in difficult financial situations.
There are better ways to make care more affordable in North Carolina. Expanding Medicaid is not the answer.
Thank Rep. Hardister for opposing Medicaid expansion.
