Thank Sen. Sinema for Voting Against Dismantling the Filibuster!

Thank you for keeping your word to me, Arizonans, and every American by voting against dismantling the Senate filibuster. I understand it couldn’t have been an easy decision with the harassment and personal attacks from non-Arizonans. You made the principled decision and did the right thing for the future of our republic. Thank you for taking this stand and for standing strong for Arizona

Dismantling the Senate rule requiring 60 votes to end debate would worsen partisanship and create a vicious cycle of political whiplash where both parties replace their opponents’ extremist policies with their own extremist policies after every election.

Eliminating the filibuster is a partisan tactic to make it easier to ram through one-sided legislation. It would increase partisanship and division, stifle debate, and usher in the potential for dramatic changes to institutions, such as packing the Supreme Court. 

This won’t be the last time Majority Leader Schumer tries to dismantle the filibuster, and politicians from the other side of the aisle will likely try to do the same thing when they take power again. But despite the noise, please know the vast majority of Arizonans don’t want to live in a country where every single election has the potential to fundamentally alter the very structure of our government. 

Thank you again for all you’ve done to oppose the dismantling of the filibuster. I hope you will continue to keep this promise.
