We encourage you to place a focus on educational freedom.
Calls for overburdensome mandates of all types have trickled into our school systems. This is yet another reason why we urge communities to transform education away from the current top-down standardized model to a bottom-up system that enables every family and student to customize education that best matches their values and priorities.
Now that state leadership has responded to the call for a special session, we are encouraging the Tennessee General Assembly to expand educational freedom by providing families with the ability to make a selection as to what educational environment fits their students' needs. There is a greater demand for unconventional models than ever before due to the COVID pandemic further highlighting the need and opportunity to transform our thinking and approach to how students discover, build, and apply their passions and interests.
Tell the legislature that parents need options. Students and families should be trusted to make decisions about their education. They should have agency over what, where, and how they learn. All families should be empowered with the funding to pursue the best education for their children.
