New Jersey is the only state in the United States to have a ban on home baked goods. Anyone caught selling homemade treats faces a not-so-sweet fine and risks being shut down.
Lawmakers seem to agree this ban needs to go. Since 2013, there has been bipartisan support in the General Assembly to end the prohibition on baked goods.
During this year’s session, a bill to repeal these salty regulations was introduced in the Senate.
This bill would remove unnecessary barriers for New Jersey’s mothers, grandmothers, volunteers and aspiring entrepreneurs who are just trying to get by.
