Every West Virginia parent knows their child is unique, and it is past time we have an education system that celebrates that reality. Let's provide all students in West Virginia the opportunity to discover, develop, and apply their unique talents.
Currently, educational opportunity is mostly available to those families who can afford private schools or can move closer to the public school they think is best for their children. But for families who can’t afford to pack up and leave their government assigned school district, the status quo means their children are often stuck in schools that are unable to meet their children's unique needs. We can remove these barriers to our students’ success by enacting Education Savings Accounts (ESAs).
Families should have access to a broad range of options beyond their assigned traditional public school. Policies such as ESAs expand that range of options. This program will offer families, especially lower income households, the opportunity to give their children access to educational environments that are better suited to unlock their unique potential.
Families can use ESAs to pay for tuition and fees, online learning programs, tutoring, career and technical education training, and customized learning services and materials, including the public school of their choice.
Tell your lawmaker that every child deserves access to an education that unleashes his or her potential!
