Support Senate Bill 1458: Employee Organizations

Given the broad powers that public unions can have over employees in their sector there exists the possibility of a union bargaining on behalf of or garnishing the wages of employees who do not wish to be a part of the union without their explicit knowledge or consent.  

Senate Bill (SB) 1458 resolves the problem. This bill would require public employees wanting to join a union to submit a signed membership authorization form, providing additional accountability for voluntary participation.  

Florida is a right-to-work state, valuing voluntary association for employees. Quite simply, employees deserve the right to end association with groups who they feel no longer represent their best interests. SB 1458 would help enforce that by requiring unions to end membership through a signed request without the need to explain why.
