The Appropriations Committee submitted their budget proposal, which includes increasing government spending by more than three percent. Our state government cannot continue to increase spending if we are ever to see meaningful tax reform, let alone property tax reform.
We often hear about reductions in the budget, but the truth is, these are often reductions in proposed increases. There is a big difference!
Not only did the Appropriations Committee fail to reduce government spending, but their proposal actually makes our funding problems for K-12 schools worse off. This is not keeping the Nebraska taxpayer in mind.
We want senators to step up and prioritize the use of money within our budget to give hard-working Nebraskans much-needed property tax relief.
Together we can move Nebraska forward and give more opportunities for Nebraskans to live their American dream. Please tell our state senators that you are watching and paying attention to how they are spending your tax dollars and it is time they prioritize limiting the growth of government!
