Gov. Phil Murphy will soon decide to sign or veto a bill that would fund the Economic Development Authority, which administers crony tax incentives.
A recent audit, ordered by Gov. Murphy, found the EDA failed to assess whether businesses that received the $11 billion in tax incentives actually created the nearly 162,000 jobs or $34 billion in capital investments they promised. Issues were also found with the way the EDA reports its activities, and how it collects fees from applicants and recipients, among other problems.
It’s time for the EDA’s crony practices to end. Sign this message and urge Gov. Murphy to veto the EDA funding bill, today!
