Our state’s road funding system is broken. Throwing more money at the problem won’t help without serious reforms.
Under Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s most recent proposal, Arkansans would pay $205 million more in a permanent extension of a temporary sales tax.
Not only do these taxes hurt Arkansas families, they negate the recent income-tax relief signed into law.
There are ways to fund state projects and address targeted priorities to improve our roads, but extending the sales tax on hardworking Arkansans isn’t the best way.
Tell Gov. Hutchinson to focus on prioritizing reforms, not raising our taxes.
