Free speech is under attack on South Dakota college campuses. The University of South Dakota has created three so-called free speech zones as a "haven" for students to practice their right to freedom of speech.
Universities ought to be places where students hear and learn opposing ideas, not hide from and limit them. Free speech zones create a dangerous atmosphere of silencing opposition and a culture of excluding those with differing opinions.
Senate Bill 198 would eliminate free speech zones at South Dakota colleges and protect free expression for students. Our democracy survives only when we let all participate and voice their opinions.
Tell lawmakers to support Senate Bill 198 and protect free speech in South Dakota!
