Gov. Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 21 into law, repealing certificate-of-need laws in Florida, making us the first southern state to do so. This landmark reform would not have been possible without Speaker of the House José Oliva.
Since becoming speaker, he has been a champion for repealing CON laws, which require health care providers to obtain government permission slips to build new facilities and offer new services.
Not only is it time-consuming and expensive to obtain permission, but CON laws allow existing providers to block competition and continue raising their prices without challenge.
With CON laws repealed, health care providers can care for Florida patients without needing to jump through burdensome and crony regulatory hoops.
Send Speaker Oliva a message, thanking him for his leadership in repealing CON laws in the Sunshine State and encouraging him to continue being a champion for health care reform!
