You are paying more at the pump because the Indiana legislature voted to raise the gas tax.
In 2017, lawmakers approved a bill that increased vehicle registration, diesel fees and the cost of gas by 10 cents a gallon.
This hike is projected to cost taxpayers an annual $1.2 billion by 2024.
The worst part is that roughly 15 percent of the gasoline sales tax revenue is spent on roads, while 85 percent of the revenue is spent on unrelated projects.
Even though the tax hike passed, not every legislator thought it was a good idea. There were a few lawmakers who sided with Hoosier families and voted against the increase. Join us in thanking them for being a champion for taxpayers!
