Colorado protects its citizens’ hard-earned dollars through the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights. This amendment to the state constitution restrains government spending by making sure voters approve any tax or revenue increase over the designated cap.
If the state takes in revenue beyond that cap, TABOR requires returning that money to citizens by way of tax breaks and refunds.
But, as usual, lawmakers will try every avenue to keep more of Coloradans’ money.
It’s rumored lawmakers will introduce a bill that could allow the state to keep and spend extra tax revenue that should be returned to residents under TABOR.
Coloradans do our part in paying taxes and living within our means. The state government should do the same.
Tell your lawmakers to protect the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights and oppose legislation that allows spending above the cap!
