At least 95% of all state prisoners will be released from prison at some point, how our system approaches rehabilitation and reentry can improve public safety and be a benefit to the communities to which the formerly incarcerated return.
An effective criminal justice system protects people and preserves public safety, respects human dignity, restores victims, removes barriers to opportunity for people with criminal records, and ensures equal justice for all under the law.
You are invited to hear Matthew Charles, one of the first beneficiaries of the First Step Act, tell his remarkable story and recount how broad coalitions from across the political spectrum came together to make this historical prison reform a reality.
Lunch will be provided for attendees and a meet and greet with Mr. Charles will follow his presentation.
Parking will be free at the UAMS parking deck and validated at the event. Should the parking deck be full, there is free parking with a shuttle service at the War Memorial Stadium parking lot at 1 Stadium Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205.
