It's time for common-sense reforms.
Arkansas communities are safer when we use our law enforcement resources as effectively as possible. Reforming our criminal justice system will better protect public safety and help more Arkansans improve their lives.
Criminal justice policies should be smart on crime. The latest technologies and methodologies should be used to ensure that the punishment fits the crime and that everyone has the opportunity to earn a second chance at improving their lives after paying their debt to society.
Criminal justice policies should also be soft on taxpayers. Tax dollars should be used to invest in programs that increase public safety, strengthen communities, and help people improve their lives. Spending millions to unnecessarily lock lower-risk individuals up does not accomplish these goals and is a waste to the taxpayer.
Through legislative action and community-based efforts, we can make the necessary progress in protecting our communities and unlocking second chances for people who want to become positive, productive members of society. Luckily, there are many lawmakers who understand this and have shown their commitment to supporting criminal justice reform. Sign this petition to show our lawmakers it's time for common-sense reforms. It's time for a safer Arkansas.
