Support healthcare innovation for Missourians & reject expanding a broken system
Medicaid expansion is the wrong approach for our state to increase access to quality, affordable health care. Missouri Amendment 2 would permanently expand Medicaid in Missouri through the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare. This Medicaid Expansion Initiative would only threaten taxpayers and further strain a broken Medicaid system and crowd out services for Missouri’s most vulnerable citizens – who need access to critical health care services the most during this pandemic.
A budget-busting expansion of Medicaid would balloon state costs and threaten Missourians with new taxes, without bringing many benefits. In recent years, Medicaid expansion has cost states significantly more than previously anticipated, negatively affecting state budgets without providing quality care. Studies show Medicaid delivers worse care than private health insurance.
Instead, Missouri should spend money directly on combating the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, rather than funneling money to Medicaid that is in turn used to reimburse hospitals. We should support policies that don’t explode the state budget, but rather reduce costs and give all Missourians more choices and better health care.
Sign the petition and say no to expanding an inefficient program that under-delivers on care and over-delivers on cost.
