Illinois Families Are Taxed-Out.
Grocery shopping is a large expense for most families — and it could become even more expensive.
Ordinances could be introduced in Edwardsville and Glen Carbon that would put a 10-cent tax on plastic bags in supermarkets and other retail stores. Collinsville, Highland, Belleville and Fairview Heights are also at risk of being subject to a similar ordinance.
Although it may seem like a small fee, paying an extra 10 cents per bag would add up quickly. Illinois family don’t deserve yet another tax.
