Every Virginian should have a voice in this process.
Mandatory collective bargaining, or forced union contracts, give government unions exclusive rights over negotiating employment contracts for public employees.
The Commonwealth of Virginia does not have mandatory collective bargaining, however, lawmakers passed legislation that haphazardly gives counties and local governments the ability to authorize forced union contracts for government employees in their jurisdictions.
This is BAD NEWS for government employees, taxpayers, and citizens of counties that choose to adopt collective bargaining ordinances.
This process will likely lead to higher taxes and fewer services in your county and will drown out the voices of individual workers and Virginia residents by giving union leaders an outsized voice in the political process.
Government unions already have the ability to lobby government for policies they support without forced union contracts. This legislation would allow union leaders to further policies that may not be supported by all workers - or the communities they serve.
Say NO to collective bargaining!
