Sign the Petition to Protect Colorado Taxpayers
Colorado protects its citizens’ hard-earned dollars through the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights. This amendment to the state constitution restrains government spending by making sure voters approve any tax or revenue increase over the designated cap.
If the state takes in revenue beyond that cap, TABOR requires returning that money to citizens,
But, as usual, lawmakers are trying every avenue to keep more of Coloradans’ money.
Governor Polis is expected to sign a bill into law that will allow the state to permanently keep and spend extra tax revenue that should be returned to residents under TABOR. Now, residents will have the choice to approve the proposed law or oppose the legislature’s attempt to weaken our rights.
Coloradans do our part in paying taxes and living within our means. The state government should do the same.
